The magpie is widespread throughout most of the country and is known for its highly distinctive call. It is a resident bird, which means that it remains in the same area in both summer and winter.
In the wild, a magpie grows to around 45 cm long; this wooden bird measures 33 cm from the tip of its beak to the tip of its tail.
