Great spotted woodpecker skilfully hand-carved from lime wood and then hand-painted with environmentally friendly paints. The wooden figure is mounted on a piece of branch/tree stump, also hand-carved. The legs and feet are made of thick steel wire wrapped with string.
In the wild, the great spotted woodpecker is around 23 cm long, and so is this version, meaning it is a 1:1 representation. A truly beautiful piece of craftsmanship, suitable for bird enthusiasts and as a decoration, as well as for educational purposes.
This is a male bird, which can be identified by the red patch on the back of its head.
The great spotted woodpecker is the most common woodpecker in Denmark.
