Wildlife Garden cast iron bird - owl

Owl made of solid cast iron from Swedish Wildlife Garden.

The bird is very lifelike and made using an old technique called casting where liquid iron is poured into a mold that can only be used once. This means that the entire bird - including legs and feet - is made in one piece of cast iron without joints.

The cast iron is coated with a black surface treatment which initially can cause some smudging - therefore, felt pads are recommended for use.

It can also be placed outdoors where over time it will develop a rusty patina.
