Wildlife Garden birdhouse/feeder - Green umber
This house from the Swedish Wildlife Garden is both a birdhouse and a feeder that can easily be changed at the end of a season. In spring it serves as a safe place when the birds are breeding. In autumn it can very easily be converted into a feeder.
As a birdhouse, this house is designed for sparrows and tits. It has been developed in collaboration with ornithologists and includes essential details such as climbing notches up to the exit hole — vital for the chicks when they go out to try their wings.
When feeding birds, it is important that they cannot sit on the food. Diseases spread easily on open feeders. In this house the feed is protected from dirt, rain and snow, and the birds perch on perches and eat. The perches can also be retracted so that only small birds can sit there.
