Hang it in a tree—as high as possible—and fill it with nuts. The squirrel will soon learn to push the flap aside and help itself.
The squirrel feeder is made from painted FSC-certified wood with a copper roof.
It is a nice feeder, and it is not too tall for the small Danish squirrels. The plastic bowl inside that can be washed is a great feature. However, our squirrels cannot figure out how to slide the lid to the side, as they normally just push the lid up with their heads, so my husband had to attach a new hinge so the lid can simply be pushed upwards.
Nice house but it has a strange smell.
No squirrels will go near it; normally they are curious when other houses and a maze have been set up.
