Owl box in solid oak of solid quality from Danish Hercules .

The owl box has a round opening with a diameter of 16 cm. It is thus specially designed for owls and the design of the opening means that there will not normally be falcons that choose to use the nest box.

It is of great benefit to the Danish owl population to set up own nest boxes . Naturally, owls breed in old trees, but often there are not enough suitable trees. Therefore, it can be a great help for the owls if a nest box is set up that can be used both during the breeding season, but also as a shelter in the winter.

The owl box should be placed high up and should optimally face away from the direction from which the wind most often comes, as birds will easily freeze if there is too much draft. At the same time, it is important that there are no branches immediately near the opening.

Note that small cracks are to be expected. The pictures show a slightly older model that was put together with nails, the new ones are with screws for increased durability.
